We know that Scary Mom readers are big Trader Joe’s fans. But you are not alone! Editors are regular visitors, too. On the one hand, there are tons of non-food items that we love. When we’re tired and need some “lazy” dinner options, when we want to impress our guests (while spending minimal money and effort), and, yes, when we’re trying to figure it out, we also Will switch to this grocery store.
So we decided to do a semi-regular roundup of what we’re buying – and of course, we’ll grab those seasonal items. but none of these only Seasonal products. It’s everything we’re buying, whether it’s old favorites that are still popular, new products we can’t get enough of, or those limited-time specials. So let’s get started.
Pumpkin Ravioli (now available in a gluten-free version)
Every fall, I go to TJ’s to try their pumpkin ravioli and butternut squash cousins. They’re delicious with pesto or a quick brown butter sauce you can spice up with pantry staples. I often eat them as a simple lunch and dinner. —Katie McPherson, associate editor, Lifestyle
Spicy meat pizza
I try to order less pizza when I don’t have anything at home. Keeping some of these came in handy this summer when I was exhausted. I think this is more like an adult pizza because the flavor is a bit spicy. Get a piece of cheese for the kids and enjoy it yourself. — Katy Elliott, Senior Editor, Personal Stories
Icelandic Skyr low-fat vanilla yogurt
Of course, I like other brands of skyr, which is an Icelandic dairy product that I think is technically a cheese but tastes like super creamy yogurt. but i real Love the Trader Joe’s price point. I throw one of these into a blender with a bunch of ice, a half cup of frozen mixed berries, and some milk, and I have a high-protein snack that will cool me down on a hot day. — Kelly Fairblot, Executive Editor
Tropical Green Tea Instant Boba Set
My kids got into boba this summer, but they get expensive fast. The kit keeps costs down and they can easily make their own at home. — Katie Elliott
frozen lentils
My kids eat the entire bag of green beans, which is an expensive habit. These frozen beans come in a huge bag and are so delicious. I stock up regularly. — Kate Auletta, Editor-in-Chief
Chocolate Croissant
I wouldn’t run TJ without these. They are a staple in my house and a special Sunday morning treat. — Katie Elliott
Just Cluster Maple Pecan Granola Cereal
I’m an absolute geek for anything maple flavored, probably because after living in maple syrup country for so many years, it still seems like an exciting new flavor. It’s really autumn! But what really stood out to me were the pecans. Best nuts, sorry. — Kelly Ferb
Mango sticky rice crispy
If you love coconut and mango, you’ll love these crunchy versions of the traditional dessert. Admittedly, the mango chunks were chewier than I expected, and I probably shouldn’t eat them (I have braces), but I did because they were worth the risk of my orthodontist’s wrath. —Katie McPherson
Chicken Shawarma Bowl
I bought this while having lunch at home. It’s delicious and easy. I really liked the tangy sauce, which gave it some kick. — Katie Elliott
any “power” juice
I love this line of juices from TJ’s – they’re delicious, not too high in sugar, and they usually have some kind of vegetable juice in them so I can pretend I’m healthy. My kids and I take them apart every time we buy them. Flavors keep changing, but purple has been our favorite so far. —Katie McPherson
Celebration Cake Ice Cream
If you like birthday cake flavored desserts, and I’ve tried them all, this ice cream is an outstanding choice. It’s delicious and extra creamy, and it’s fun to sprinkle with just the right amount of powdered sugar, but not so icy that it’ll kill your teeth. Just take it. —Katie McPherson
