The 11 most relatable single mothers in movies

In the 1987 film, ambitious career girl JC Wiatt (Diane Keaton) doesn’t seem like the best choice for a super-lovable single mom baby boom. Especially since JC didn’t want kids and was laser-focused on her marketing career (because at the time, apparently, it was always going to be one or the other). Then her cousin dies and she inherits a baby girl, sweet little Elizabeth – her boyfriend doesn’t want the little girl, and at first, JC thinks she doesn’t want her either.

Then, one night, Elizabeth developed a fever. The two stayed up all night, and in the quiet morning, something happened. JC is exhausted, overwhelmed, worried, but most importantly… she is a mother. Despite JC’s difficulties throughout the movie, JC gets real love from Elizabeth when they move to the cutest farmhouse you’ve ever seen and she begins to fall in love with the local veterinarian (Sam Shepard) , deep joy. She talks to her like her little best friend, which feels very real to me.
