What is intensive parenting? Details on the latest parenting styles

It’s not easy being a parent especially Today’s world – rising inflation, high political tensions, and social pressure to want it all and have it all. We are under a lot of pressure to raise the next generation of tiny humans into well-adjusted adults, and because of this, many of us are becoming “enhancement parents” or practicing “enhancement parenting.” So, what are the latest parenting trends? You may not even know you’re a part of it.

TikTok user @unsolicitedsarcasm said in her video: “So I just learned that my parenting style is called ‘enhanced parenting,’ which is probably the style a lot of parents are using right now.” She then gave some reinforcements Examples of parenting.

She was not wrong! The surgeon general’s findings were published in a 35-page report, released in late August 2024, which identified parental stress as “an urgent public health issue.” It draws on data from the American Psychological Association and other sources to demonstrate that parents may be facing more stress than at any time in recent history.

According to the Psychological Association, one-third of parents with children under 18 rated their stress levels as 8 or higher out of 10. Two in five parents said it was “so stressful that they feel numb”. Three out of five people said stress makes it difficult to concentrate. Two-thirds of people are troubled by money problems.

I don’t need a study to know that raising kids in 2024 is incredibly hard, but it’s always good to have some science-backed data!

“Not all events need to be child-centered. We are too child-centered,” one user wrote.

“This is because our generation is intensifying parenting without parenting in any real way (and parenting our own parents too). Hopefully our children will experience less stress in parenthood than we did.
