Ah, the year-end itch. We all know that, right? We impatiently count down the days to fall, but now that it has arrived, a sense of dread begins to creep in about what is to come. It feels like we’re on a crash course in the stresses of the holidays: wrapping gifts (where are the fucking scissors?!), navigating stressful dinners with the in-laws, trying to bring joy to the kids when you want them to Get in the car and keep driving until confusion appears in the rearview mirror.
But in the immortal words of one of the great philosophers of our generation, “seasons come and go” (thanks, Posti), and these transformations are inevitable. The holidays aren’t the only “season” on mothers’ minds right now, either.
