Kimberly J. Brown Shares Wedding Details and Things She’s Keeping in ‘Halloween Town’

For those of us who grew up watching the Disney Channel Original Movies, Kimberly J. Brown is an icon. She plays 13-year-old Marnie Piper in the film halloween townshe instantly became the teenager we all wanted to be. As a little girl, I was completely captivated by this movie – I desperately wanted to know that I, too, had magic flowing through me, and tumble into a world where I could wear a sweet cape and ride a Windsweeper 5000 turbo broom. But the person I really wanted to be was Marnie herself. Yes, she’s rebellious, but it’s because she’s determined to make the world a better place. she is cool and That’s nice, and she’s not afraid to take a stand.

Brown also aspires to be like Marnie, she told me on Zoom, right after she complimented my Aerosmith T-shirt and said she was a big fan of mine too (confirming that she’s a good person). She called from the home she shared with Halloweentown II: Calabar’s Revenge Partner Daniel Kountz and their miniature golden retriever Luna. The two got married in April this year, got back together in 2016, and made their relationship public in 2018. About the accident at the wedding, halloween town Hindsight, and her current love for spooky season.

Horrible Mom: Congratulations to you and your new hubby! Something always goes wrong on a wedding day. Have you ever encountered any misfortune?

Kimberly J. Brown: Well, yes. We got married on the lawn, so I wore fairly short Badgley Mischka heels, which I thought would be fine on the lawn. They are not. I started totally sinking into every step I took down the aisle, and I thought, “Oh my gosh, I have to take these shoes off or I’m going to totally sink into the grass during the swearing-in and stuff.” So, in Before the ceremony started, when I stood up, I thought, “Oh, let me take my shoes off quick.” I kicked it away, and instead of landing directly on the grass, it started flying through the air and landed on me. Flower girl’s face. Everything was fine, no one was hurt, but this wasn’t the way I wanted the ceremony to start

SM: Is there any halloween town Are there any other co-stars besides your real husband?

KJB: Judith Hogg is here and she plays my mom in the movie. We watched the movie in the hallway leading to the reception room. We posted an engagement photo, but we also posted a photo of us as Marnie and Carl because that was obviously an important way for us to meet. That’s how we fit into the movie. We had to do some recapping that day.

SM: What is your favorite part about playing Marnie?

KJB: Thank you. God, I loved playing Marnie. I admire Marnie’s determination and willingness to take risks. She was the confident 13-year-old girl I wished I had. So it’s been amazing to see the connection that fans have had with Marnie and the movie over the years, it’s just… oh my God. It blossomed into something I never imagined. I’m proud to have grown up with her as an adventurer and go-getter in Halloween Town.

With a lot of shows in the ’90s, we started getting into some supernatural fun stuff that didn’t have to be scary, asking what the magical, mysterious, family fun side of Halloween was. so i like that halloween town It has also become a place for families to enjoy Halloween.

SM: Do you have any interesting mementos from the set?

KJB: I’ve had this book from the beginning halloween town Movie. The producers were kind enough to give me a copy when we were packing. Disney gave me the bat in Calabar’s office from the first movie – his assistant pops out of the coffin and is like, “Someone’s here to see you, boss.” I have that puppet, and the second one Marnie’s costume in the movie and the third film, purple cape.

SM: On a different note, you are crafty and even have your own Etsy shop. What Halloween and fall related crafts can you recommend to families with children?

KJB: Simplicity is key. I just recently finished a project making spiders out of pipe cleaners. Halloween doesn’t have to be about going out and buying tons of decorations and putting a big skull on your lawn. I love fun crafts that I can make with the whole family. So kids can have fun with pipe cleaners and get spiders to cling to anything. I mean, you can buy a bag of spider webs and scatter them wherever you want, and it’s like a fun, easy way to add some spooky feel to your house without having to Cost a huge amount of money.

SM: What is your favorite October tradition and activity you are most looking forward to doing? Are you interested in clothing?

KJB: Well, I have to have some pumpkin spice on hand. Lighting the candles and drinking the latte – I’m that girl. Also, not sure why it’s become such a heated debate over the past few years, but I’m Team Candy Corn. I’ve loved Halloween since I was a kid, so I love things that remind me of my childhood.

Yes, this is much to my dog’s chagrin. We’ve been trying to make family costumes every year for the past five years or so. Last year it was “Dr. Seuss,” and we did “Super Mario Bros.” You can’t let the holidays go by without dressing up. We do have a good plan for this year.

SM: You spend more time than the average person doing Halloween decorations. Now how do you want to decorate your home for the spooky season?

KJB: I’m definitely going to have to drink some orange soda. I also love the mix of fun nostalgic Halloween decor with a bit of spookiness. Because I feel like you can’t celebrate Halloween without a little spookiness. I love decorating with fall flowers and pumpkins, but this decor brings out the real creepy crawlies. I like spiders and bugs in my decor, I don’t like real ones. So one of my other decorating tips is to have products like STEM Killing Ant, Cockroach and Spider Spray on hand to help you manage the really creepy crawlies because we don’t need them inside.

If you visit Stembugout.com and upload a picture of a Halloween bug decoration, you’ll receive discounts on select STEM products.
