Icon and model Pamela Anderson, 57, chose to go makeup-free when attending Paris Fashion Week in September 2023, and she never looked back. Since then, other celebrities have followed suit. When Anderson showed up The Drew Barrymore Show, Host Drew Barrymore, 49, and guest Valerie Bertinelli, 64, also decided to go makeup-free.
The three women discuss the actress’ new no-makeup campaign.
“I really think you own this space,” Barrymore tells Anderson early in the film. “I think you were a pioneer in what we’re doing here today.”
Anderson responded: “Isn’t it free? Does it feel free? I feel free. I mean, it took a while; you know, I’ve been on a journey like this, but we’re all our own The harshest critic.
Bertinelli chimed in, asking when Anderson started hugging and feeling comfortable without any beauty products.
“I was at Paris Fashion Week and decided to just go to a fashion show. I didn’t have to compete with anyone. Like, why should I waste three in the makeup chair when I’m wearing these beautiful Vivenne Westwood pieces? hours? I didn’t realize anyone would notice,” Anderson said.
She added, “So, when people started coming to me and talking about it, I thought, ‘Well, that’s a great message.'” You know, really peeling it back and finding out who I am again. I want to remember who I am.
The actor went on to say that she felt like she had been playing characters her whole life and was very shy as a child. “Even doing Playboy was a huge leap of faith for me,” she added.
“A few years ago, it occurred to me, and I was like, you know, I just shook my head, ‘Who am I?’ You know, that’s when I came home, got into my garden, started planting things, and blended in Nature, going back to the trees that have known me since birth,” Anderson explains.
“I bought my grandmother’s property and renovated it, and then I just started taking it all back. And then I started peeking in without makeup. And then I started realizing, ‘Oh, I feel great,'” she concluded.
After the video gained traction on TikTok, some users praised Anderson’s makeup-free look.
