Eleanor Roosevelt was one of the most famous first ladies to ever occupy the White House. She served as first lady longer than anyone else, supporting her husband Franklin Roosevelt during his four terms as president. As First Lady, Eleanor served as a representative to the United Nations, where she advocated for human rights around the world. She also advocated for the rights of American women, African Americans, and Asian Americans. Ellanor has been credited with reinventing the role of first lady and is considered one of the most influential women in the world during her time in the White House.
Eleanor means “shining light” (how appropriate!) and has cute nicknames like Elle, Ellie, Leonora and Nora.
