Planning a holiday date night? try this

If there’s anyone who needs celebrating in December, it’s caregivers. As a mom of two, I understand the stress we experience during the holidays. Decorate the house, complete your Christmas list, have a scary school-themed dress-up week, bake cookies, and wrap all the presents.

It’s challenging.

tired.

Every caregiver needs a break to catch their breath, and I have the perfect date night idea to help with that.

First, if your children can’t take care of themselves, find someone to take care of them.

Next, plan to have dinner at three different places. Too much? Maybe, but if you break it down by course, it adds a level of fun beyond just going out for dinner. So ask your partner where they want to have appetizers, entrees, and desserts.

Once your belly is filled, it’s time for the main activity. Now, as a new york times and USA Today A best-selling author, I knew the biggest escape was reading, which led me to our date: the bookstore.

Before you say, “We’re not book people,” give it a try; just a good book can change your mind. Just a great book to help you escape reality. . . Even to make the relationship interesting.

So that’s the plan. You’ve probably seen this all over social media, but I think it’s a great date idea for any bookworm or person starting to read. Give your partner five minutes to shop and read a book. When the five minutes are up, take them to the front of the store and give them two minutes to grab as many books as they can.

Now, this task can have some variations. You can limit the number of books, you can give them a basket and let them go crazy, you can even make a game with it where they pick a book for you and you pick a book for them. Anyway, have fun with it.

When everything is done, it’s time to talk about them. If you’re in a bookstore with a coffee shop attached, grab a cup of tea, sit down, and chat about what they’re excited about reading the book of their choice. You might even surprise yourself and join in the fun. Regardless, I hope this is a fun way to show your partner that you appreciate them and maybe spice up your relationship.

If you’re also looking for a little extra spice with a touch of humor, may I suggest something to get you into the holiday spirit? How my neighbor stole Christmas It’s really yours. If you’re not in the holiday spirit, try this accidental bridesmaid even not so cute encounter.

Good luck and happy holidays!
