A new villain’s land is officially (finally) in development at the Magic Kingdom

Ursula the Sea Witch, the Evil Queen with her poison apple, Scar and his band of hyenas—some of Disney’s most iconic characters (with the catchiest musical numbers) are all bad guys. If you’ve always had a soft spot for the dark side, you’ll love the news that was revealed over the weekend at Disney’s D23 convention: Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is getting a dedicated Villains Land.

Disney has announced a ton of new plans for the Magic Kingdom, which is set to undergo its biggest expansion ever early next year. A large chunk of it—say, a few acres—will become a land of dark, mysterious villains inspired by the villainous characters from your favorite Disney movies.

Disney Experience Chairman Josh D’Amaro said Villas Land will feature two major attractions, as well as a host of new shops and dining options. “This land will be home to villains you know and villains you loathe, which means happily ever after may feel like a distant dream,” D’Amaro teased, adding, “This is something of a grand scale. The storytelling that only Disney can offer, so get ready, you poor unfortunate souls, for a fearless new vision of the Disney experience.

Disney has yet to announce an opening date for this nightmarish new realm, but says construction will begin early next year. However, Disney got fans excited by sharing a highlight reel on Instagram that features clips of many classic villains: Maleficent, Jafar, Hades, Yzma, the Queen of Hearts…the list goes on. enumerate.
