“It’s funny how life’s plans don’t always…haha. I’ve been waiting to be a mother for so long but nothing could have prepared me for what motherhood brings. ! This is what postpartum looks like,” she wrote, along with a photo of herself wearing Frida’s mom shorts.
Referring to her 2002 single “Baby,” Ashanti also said: “I’m so proud of my body because it gave me my baby, baby, baby, baby, baby.”
The singer didn’t reveal further details on social media, but her rep shared the baby’s name people: Karim Kenkaid Hayes. According to the publication, the baby boy was born on July 18, so the newborn was a sign of cancer.
