We just got a letter, we just got a letter! I want to know who posted it? Well, not so much a letter as a TikTok, but same idea – an old friend reaching out again. Who better to listen to than Steve? blue’s clue?
Steve Burns – who played our favorite primary-colored canine’s best friend from 1996 to 2002 – shared a video on his TikTok account @hioutthereitsmesteve earlier this month, Greetings to his now-adult fans.
“Hello. What’s going on, how are you? What’s new? Steve asked.
As music played in the background, Steve listened carefully, nodding occasionally, giving the kids he’d grown up with a chance to tell their old friends what they were doing.
TikTok has since racked up 3.3 million likes and more than 177,000 comments, which share accomplishments, hardships and more with an old friend who was kind enough to check in.
Maybe grab a box of tissues before we continue.
“I finally got my apartment, Steve! I’m no longer homeless! “My boys watch the Blues Clues movie every day 💚 and I tell them how I was you when I was their age of loyal fans. “
“I’m going to be a dad. 🥹 Our baby girl is due in less than a month. I’m so excited. I’m scared and I’m already in love with her. 💛💛. Can’t wait to show her the OG bluesy clues. Love you , Steve,” another user said.
While many commenters shared good news, some took the opportunity to share what they were experiencing.
“I lost my grandmother three weeks ago, she raised me,” one user shared. “Although it feels unreal, this is the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. I used to sit in the living room with her watching Blues Clues. 🤍”
Many users praised Steve for creating a safe space for adults to be vulnerable — something that is so rare.
Many are also offering support to those who share their own struggles.
“Okay guys, this comment section ruined it for me. I’m no Steve but I’m so proud of all of you. You deserve everything you want 💕,” one user wrote.
This isn’t the first time Steve has reached out to his fans—you may remember him reaching out to all us grown-up kids in 2021, providing light in the depths of the pandemic.
Since then, Steve has continued to post TikToks “just to check in.” He doesn’t post often, but when he does, the comments section is just as heart-warming.
Thank you, Steve, and keep in touch. We’ll catch up again soon!
