Rain or shine, Brittany Mahomes will root for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Spectators, including 29-year-old Mahomes, were asked to stay put during the NFL’s 2024 season opener at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday, September 5, in Kansas City, Missouri, as a strong but brief storm swept through the stadium. Take refuge.
A storm rolled in before the Chiefs took on the Baltimore Ravens, bringing heavy rain and lightning. Kick-off was originally scheduled for 7:20 pm local time, but has been postponed 20 minutes to 7:40 pm
As the storm hit, quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany documented herself and her three-year-old daughter Sterling Skye wearing Chiefs towels on their heads to protect themselves from the rain. In the video shared on Instagram Stories, Brittany tells the camera, “We’re alive,” while Sterling smiles softly at the camera.
For kickoff, Brittany wore a baggy white T-shirt paired with a pair of workman jeans with the team’s colors painted on the seams: red and yellow. Sterling wore a cute red dress with matching ruffled red socks. Her hair was tied into a braid with a pink bow.
In addition to the Mahomes family and Chiefs fans sheltering in place, another Chiefs fan, Taylor Swift, had to do the same.
Swift, 34, who is currently dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, 34, arrived at the stadium ahead of the storm. The singer arrived on a golf cart and greeted fans as he entered the stadium. “Hello… how are you?” Swift said, showing off her cocky stance in boots, shorts and a tight tank top.

The tight end’s mother, Donna, and brother, Jason, appeared on the team’s official pregame show, The World’s Biggest Tailgate: The Tailgate Game. Donna and Chiefs superfans during the event saturday night live Star Heidi Gardner paid tribute to Swift by creating friendship bracelets in Chiefs colors.
Donna showed up to the tailgate red carpet wearing a custom-made “Kelce” denim jacket with Travis’ number emblazoned on it. Embroidered on the front is the Chiefs’ signature yellow and red 87 lettering, along with a black Chiefs baseball cap.
Meanwhile, Travis showed up to the stadium looking cool and confident. The three-time Super Bowl champion walked through the tunnel at Arrowhead Stadium wearing a white and brown jacket and matching pants.
