Colourpop’s Haunted House Series is My Horror Season MVP

Ever since the Scary Moms team took a trip to Disney World last month, I’ve embraced the idea that I’m at least a little bit like a Disney adult. There’s something liberating about unabashedly embracing those childlike things that spark joy. To me, nothing sparks more joy at Disneyland than riding the Haunted Mansion. It’s spooky, it’s classic, and when it comes to catchy songs, Grim Grinning Ghosts is hard to beat. The ambience is flawless.

So imagine my surprise when my algorithm pointed me to Colourpop’s haunted house series. I knew it had to be mine.

These complete collections include…

  • Shadow palette: 15 highly pigmented eyeshadows with names like “Ballroom Ghosts” and “Graveyard Stroll.”
  • Super matte lip makeup: The collection includes three shades – deep berry ‘Hitch A Ride’, rich brown ‘Summoned Spirits’ and neutral sandstone ‘Beware’.
  • Ultra glossy lips: “Graveyard Shift” is a pink lip gloss that follows a lip color trend I’m seeing where the product reacts to your unique pH level to create a slightly different shade for everyone.
  • Super Shocking Shadows: The brand’s long-wearing cream-powder formula comes in four shades (light green, blue, purple, and a watery grey).
  • Glitter gel: A shimmering gel cream that provides intense glitter and shine and glow-in-the-dark.

The packaging itself is gorgeous, with holographic details that fans of the ride will recognize: The Hitchhiker Ghost, Lady Leotta, and other characters and details from the ride are all represented in the art, and, obviously, There are names for various shades. Also, what impresses me about the $99 price is the amount of product included.

I started experimenting with eye colors first and was delighted to find both the palette and the impact shadows The colors are really pretty and blend together perfectly. So not only is it very suitable for real artist Those who know how to patiently apply makeup, but it’s great for amateurs like me who experiment with makeup like a deer learning to walk. The variety of colors is also perfect for versatile looks. Feeling trendy? Apply some Electric Blue (Hitchhikers) or Amethyst (Have A Stretch). Want a smoky neutral look? Endless corridors, portrait rooms, and New Orleans should do the trick.

I’m ready to criticize matte lips. Matte can easily dry out your lips and ultimately, look Like it dries out your lips. Not only do the colors stay put all day long, but they leave my lips feeling soft and looking soft. No joke: I ate a sandwich before a Zoom meeting and my “bold lips” (hitchhiking) are still a compliment magnet.

The lip gloss (Graveyard shift) is super moisturizing and has a lovely, subtle pink color that’s perfect for neutrals (remember, everyone looks different). No wonder it’s currently sold out for personal purchase on the Colourpop website.

As someone who wears eyeliner and lipstick every day, I doubt I will ever have a lot of Had the chance to use the glitter gel “Madame Leota” but I found it to be quite simple in terms of application and the glitter is really pretty. I’ve promised my daughter she can use it to make a Halloween costume this year.

long story short

In just a few days, this collection has already brought joy to my little nerdy heart. Full of opportunities for drama and pastel ghosts, it will be well utilized in both everyday and dress-up situations. My standout winner (it’s a close race for sure) is Hitch A Ride, which is my new favorite lip color.

So if you want to get some of this spooky fun for yourself, I vote for it. ‘Tis the season for spooks, baby: trick yourself out.
