Elle Macpherson talks about her journey 7 years after breast cancer diagnosis

Elle Macpherson has opened up about her breast cancer journey for the first time.

discusses her new book of the same name in a new interview EllerThe 60-year-old Australian supermodel opened up about how she coped with breast cancer after being diagnosed seven years ago.

“It’s shocking, unexpected, confusing, scary

The supermodel added that after she had the tumor removed, doctors called her and told her it was HER2-positive estrogen-receptive intraductal carcinoma, a type of breast cancer. McPherson was subsequently advised to undergo cancer treatment, including a mastectomy and chemotherapy.

Although she was shocked, she said the diagnosis “gave me an opportunity … to find a solution that works for me” and she chose a “holistic approach” to treating her cancer without the use of chemotherapy or drugs.

“I realized I needed my own truth, my belief system to sustain me through this. And that’s what I did,” she told australian women’s weekly. “So, it was a great exercise in staying true to myself, trusting myself, trusting the nature of my body and the course of action I chose.”

McPherson writes about her treatment decision in her new book: “I realized there were no sure things and absolutely no guarantees. There was no ‘right’ way, just what worked for me.

“Saying no to standard medical solutions was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life,” she continues in the book. But I knew I had to make choices that truly resonated with me. For me, this means addressing the emotional and physical factors associated with breast cancer…and that takes courage.

In her book, McPherson also talks about her sons Flynn, 26, and Cy, 21, having mixed reactions to her treatment, though she adds that overall, her family is “very support”.

The supermodel revealed she is now in clinical remission. “I’d like to say I’m completely healthy. And I am!” she told Australian Women’s Weekly. “Really, from every angle, every blood test, every scan, every imaging test… but also emotionally, mentally and spiritually – not just physically.”

McPherson had a cancer scare after discovering a benign lump in her breast on her 49th birthday in 2013. “I was lucky – it was fibroadenoma, but it was a big warning,” she previously told the Daily Mail. This experience led the supermodel to become a nutritionist and wellness expert, Dr. Simoné Laubscher, who specializes in hormonal rebalancing, cancer, and health. australian women’s weekly. Together they founded WelleCo – a one-stop vitamin and mineral complex and luxury wellness business. Macpherson opened a store for Welleco in March 2016.

In 2015, McPherson said of her health: “As I’ve matured, I’ve realized that it’s not how I look that matters, it’s ‘How do I feel?'” [It’s] When I started to sleep more, relax more, and pay attention to nutrition in my life, because good nutrition changes everything.
