Gabby Petito’s father marks third anniversary of her murder

Gabby Petito’s father is mourning his late daughter.

Gabby’s father Joseph expressed his heartfelt condolences on Tuesday, August 27, to mark the third anniversary of her death.

“Three years ago today you were taken from us,” he captioned next to a photo of him and Gabby at a fish spa. “We can’t stop crying when we think of you. There’s no waking up from this nightmare.

He added: “We march forward for you and all those inspired by you, and nothing can stop us. I ask everyone reading this to share a #missingperson flyer today. #EveryoneDeservesTheSameAttention #GabbyPetito #DomesticViolence # TogetherWeCan.

In the photo, Gabby and her father smile at each other as they put their feet into a container filled with water and fish at the Fish Pedicure Center.

Gabby was last heard from in August 2021 while she was on a cross-country road trip with fiancé Brian Laundrie. On September 1, Landry quietly returned to his parents’ home in Florida without Gaby, who was reported missing 10 days later. Roundry was listed as a person of interest in Gabby’s disappearance on September 15.

On September 19, her body was found in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. The coroner ruled her death a homicide and determined that she died from “manual strangulation.” She was 22 years old at the time.

On October 20, the body of 23-year-old Landry was found in a park in North Port, Florida.

In January 2022, Landry was named Gaby’s murderer after a notebook was found near Gaby’s body, which contained a written confession admitting his responsibility for Gaby’s death.

Joseph also shared the same photo of them at Fish Spa Therapy in March to commemorate Gabby’s 25th birthday.

“Happy 25th birthday #GabbyPetito our angel. We love you and miss you. 😢,” his caption read.

Meanwhile, in June, Joseph shared with People how the Gabby Petitto Foundation supports missing people of color.

“There is a hierarchy when it comes to sharing missing persons flyers,” he said. “The kids go first, then the white women, then the women of color.”

“We want to help all the missing people,” he added. “It would be a shame if the media didn’t continue to do this for everyone because it’s not just Gabby who deserves it.”
