Check out a new take on Disney fairy tales: A hard-working mom doesn’t take her kids to Disney World. This mum was having the most magical time until an evil witch systematically destroyed her on social media.
Only this isn’t a fairy tale. This is the true story of a Disney travel agent who shares content on Instagram using the handle @maddiesmickeymagic. After posting that she loved traveling to Disney World alone, she immediately received bad comments online for daring to “relax” at an Orlando theme park without her children.
To be fair, the mom and creator admitted she felt a little guilty, but the point of her post was that she was having a great time.
“I love taking my family on Disney vacations, I do it 99% of the time!” the mom captioned her share. “But every now and then, it’s nice to just relax and be a kid without kids.”
Have questions about your adult Disney trip?
The comments section of her post quickly became filled with evil stepmother vibes.
“It’s sad that adults don’t take their kids to Disney,” one hater quipped, while another simply wrote: “Embarrassing.” Another commenter said: “It’s sad that adults don’t. It’s weird for kids to go to Disneyland.”
There are countless comments as poisonous as the apple Snow White shouldn’t have taken a bite from. But soon, other commenters came to the creator’s rescue with their support.
“I hope you had a great time!” one declared. “Moms deserve some time for themselves.” And, this point is made again and again: “Just because you’re a mom, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your life!” Another commenter noted, Disney Many experiences at are geared toward adults, including traveling the world at Epcot.
Reasons not to take your kids to Disneyland
With that in mind, the travel agent shared her top four reasons not to take kids to Disney in a follow-up post. First, since she is a Disney Travel agent, traveling alone allows her to focus on doing research for her clients.
The creator added that it’s very hot in Orlando in August, so she doesn’t want her kids to be exposed to that. As someone who has taken my kids to the park in the middle of summer in Florida, I can attest to how painful it can be. You paid thousands of dollars to hear your kids complain about how uncomfortable they were—funny, right?
Another reason moms and creators don’t take their kids to the park? She loves roller coasters, but they don’t, so this trip allowed her to ride the big rides.
Then there’s the live cocktail onslaught. All three Disney parks (except the Magic Kingdom), as well as Disney Springs, offer fun drinking experiences that you can’t quite embrace if you’re also “sitting in a cantina.”
Finally, the Disney lover noted that she works hard at work and parenting, and taking time for herself isn’t exactly a sin.
“Disney is designed for everyone to enjoy! I know it’s not everyone’s idea of an adults-only vacation, but it’s our happy place! This mom is embracing her inner child for a roll Title added to video.
you do you
Here are my two thoughts on solo Disney vacations that are criticized around the world: I know there are a lot of adults who don’t take their kids to the parks. Although I haven’t done it yet, I dream about it! When we take our families to Disney, we always see couples and friends having a great time alone. “One day!” I promised my husband.
Now, it would be heartbreaking if we left our six- and three-year-olds at home to watch Mickey. As for our teenagers? If we want some adult time, they are more than happy to do their own thing in the park or at home.
Everyone’s situation is different, so it’s impossible to say what will make sense to you. If you do have time to be alone, maybe it can feel tiring to be around a bunch of noisy kids who don’t belong to you.
But if jumping around the park in Mickey’s Ears and doing whatever you want without having to consider a million other opinions and feelings is freeing for you and will stay with your family Flying, why should you be judged for it? As many commenters pointed out, parents can have fun too. Now, if only we could get our kids to understand this…
