If you’re a parent of teenagers (or even any school-age child), you’re probably familiar with the cultural phenomenon known as the “skibidi toilet.”
Skibidi Toilet is an animated film series created by Georgian animator Alexei Gerasimov. The plots of these films often depict a war between “skibidi toilets” – mobile toilets with creepy AF heads popping out of bowls – and humanoid robots with speakers, cameras and televisions. .
The first Skibidi toilet video has been viewed more than 164 million times. So, yes, it’s a popular thing to do, but, there’s absolutely no reason for a preschool-aged kid to engage in this meme, right?
For one mom, this is not the case.
Brianna Bado asked her TikTok followers if she was overreacting after her son came home, explaining that he had seen videos at school, including the infamous “Skibidi toilet.”
“He started mentioning that he was watching a video on the teacher’s phone, and I just thought it was like the educational video he mentioned, like a gummy bear song. I was like, OK They might just enjoy listening to music or dancing there. I didn’t think it was a big deal but when I picked him up last week. He mentions a ghostly zombie in the toilet. I was like, Okay, this is a little weird.
“He didn’t really bring it up again until recently. I talked about it more and he said “skibidi toilets” which I had heard about online a bit and I looked it up and it really wasn’t appropriate at all and I was concerned about him How to treat this problem in kindergarten.
Bardo went on to explain that she sent a message to the school to find out why her son was exposed to such video content, especially at school.
“They mentioned that they were using tablets in circles to perform educational songs and dances, but I didn’t realize that at all when I was sending my child to preschool. I was paying someone to watch him and interact with him instead of using a screen time…so that already irritates me because I know now that they use screen time, it’s become a daily thing,” she explained.
Needless to say, the school was unable to come up with any detailed explanation afterwards. Bardo pulled her son out of school.
After her video gained attention, other mums were shocked that her son was watching the film in kindergarten without his parents’ knowledge or consent.
“Why do they need tablets in preschool? Oops, haha,” one user wrote.
OP replied: “She made it sound like each class might have a tablet for the teacher to play videos on, so I guess at least they don’t have their own tablets. But still using screens in a part-time preschool class seems lazy to me 😬”
