“I’m so excited; I’m so excited,” exclaimed Rachel Accurso (aka Ms. Rachel) as we began our interview about her new line of toys. Acouso said she felt like Santa Claus, “I’ve always imagined myself giving them to people. I’m so excited to share them.”
Accurso has partnered with SpinMaster and Melissa & Doug to respond to fan demand with this toy line.
“We put a lot of care, thought, love and detail into our toys to make them something very special,” Accuso said.
These toys are special and designed for kids and parents alike. parents Get a sneak peek at some of the toys coming to shelves and online retailers this fall. Read on to learn more about them and find out which one Ms. Rachel likes best.
What should parents look for in toys?
There are so many toys on the market that it can be difficult for parents, caregivers or anyone shopping for a gift to decide which toy is best.
“Something that grows with your child; something that they won’t play with for two days and then don’t want to play with anymore; something that sparks imagination and creativity; something that can be used in a variety of ways,” Accurso describes.
Accurso has developed its line of toys using these pillars. But that doesn’t mean she thinks there aren’t other types of toys that have value for children.
“I love Play-Doh, kinetic sand, things that kids can be creative with and it will never go out of style, like a classic doll,” Accuso said. “Dolls are amazing. You can do so many things with dolls.”
All About Ms. Rachel’s New Toy
There are 10 new toys including building blocks, stuffed animals, puzzles and rattles. They are designed by Accurso himself and development experts.
“She’s really like another toy designer,” explains Laura Henderson, executive vice president and global head of early learning at Spin Master. “She sat down with our designers and thought through every detail.”
All toys are designed to support little ones at all ages and stages (from 3 months to 3 years and up). Of course, they all relate to Ms. Rachel’s popular songs, characters and themes. songs for kids YouTube channel.
“What’s important to me is that these toys are affordable and very open. They can grow with the child,” Accurso explains. “We always want everything we do with Ms. Rachel to be beneficial, and that’s one of the reasons we think back to, will this help the kids? Will it inspire learning and creativity?”
wooden learning blocks
Accurso’s first toy highlight is the wooden learning blocks.
“There are so many ways to play with them, not just blocks,” Accuso said.
These blocks include letters, numbers, pictures, and colors. But they also include four game blocks showing animals, body parts, emotions and actions. Akuso said that was one of her thoughts.
“There are some blocks that you can use in the first game. So you roll the block, and then it says to swing, and you swing. You get some gross motor skills,” she explained while demonstrating how to play with the blocks. “this [block] Teach you where the different parts of the body are. This way you can touch your eyes. Emotional disorders exist and it is important for children to be able to recognize their own emotions. Identifying them is the first step to being able to regulate them and understand what’s going on.
Ms. Rachel’s surprise learning box
Another toy that Accurso is personally involved with is the Surprise Learning Box. The sides of the box feature four different interactive scenes that Accurso came up with himself. It also comes with six accessories for babies to play with, including a bear, bunny, carrot, bus, bubblegum and scarf. Parents can use accessories to create scenes.
“Rabbits can inspire many languages. [Bunny can go] Up and down the slide, the bunny is so dirty, she needs a bath, and you put the bunny in the tub,” Accurso demonstrates.
These toys are also versatile. Take the peek-a-boo scarf that comes with the surprise learning box, for example. Accurso showed us that it can not only play a game of peek-a-boo, but can also be used as a towel for bathing a bear.
“So, we’re helping kids imagine that one thing is multiple things and just extending the game,” Acuso explained.
Accurso and her team will also be incorporating surprise learning boxes into her programming. On October 1, they will release the first companion episode so that little ones and their families can do just like Ms. Rachel.
Miss Rachel Talking and Singing Doll
When I spoke with Accurso last December, she said they had been getting a lot of requests for Rachel dolls. Now this has become a reality.
“It was just one of those pinch-me moments where you’re like, this is a doll,” Acuso lamented. “That’s really cool.”
Ms. Rachel doll sings all the songs children know and love. But the doll’s meaning also has implications for children and adults.
“She said, ‘You can do hard things,’ and that’s something I think about every day,” Acouso explained. “She said to take a deep breath. One time I was just playing with it and I was like, Oh my gosh, I really need to take a deep breath. So I love this. She said, you are so loved — something I want kids to hear. ”
Acouso admits that the Ms. Rachel dolls are her new favorite toys, “They’re so well made.”
She highlighted her favorite qualities of the voice.
“I hope she can bring some comfort to the kids,” Accuso said. “I know kids have difficulties a lot of the time; [trouble] Sleep alone at night. So, I just hope this doll helps.
Other toys
Accurso also showed us a six-piece wooden song puzzle developed in partnership with popular toy brand Melissa & Dog. It plays some of Ms. Rachel’s popular songs.
“When I’m shopping for my son, I just put Melissa & Doug into a search and see what comes up because I know I trust their brand. I love all the pretend play that the brand inspires. So, Melissa & Doug “Jigsaw, that’s so cool,” Accurso said. ”
Some other toys include Herbie Huggable Lovey, Hop Little Bunnies Soft Rattle, Herbie Dolls, Sensory Toys, Sensory Learning Farm and Tummy Time Activity Bus.
These toys are great for parents too
A large portion of Ms. Rachel’s toys are for parents or caregivers to interact and play with their children. But sometimes, parents and caregivers can find it difficult to learn how to play with their children, especially when they are first starting to raise them.
However, each of Ms. Rachel’s toys comes with a study card for inspiration.
“They show parents what skills their child can develop by playing with the toys. Then they provide play tips on the back, which are like little blueprints for parents on how to use the toys and ideas on how to get started on each card. A QR code that links to a video made by Rachel and Aaron to help inspire parents,” explained Henderson.
