Mum asks her husband to complete a Christmas to-do list

The holidays can be stressful for many people, especially if you’re on a budget. For years, my husband and I set a $50 limit and we filled each other’s stockings. It’s a fun way to feel like we’re still giving and receiving without breaking the bank.

One woman on TikTok has an even better idea: kill two birds with one stone! She gives her partner a “honey” list for her Christmas list, reminding us all that Christmas gifts don’t have to cost money!

“My boyfriend and I decided not to spend money on each other over Christmas because we wanted to save money and we had a baby,” Jess Tatem explains in her video, before noting that initially, The plan is to make more homemade, sentimental gifts. Then Jesse “had a better idea.”

“This is genius. I probably do this every year. I make a list of all the things I want to do in my house and this is what I want for Christmas.

Here’s her Christmas list:

What I want for Christmas:

  1. Black mirror hanging in the room
  2. The entryway table (in a box in the guest room) is put together and placed in the entryway
  3. White shelves hang above the sofa in Ella’s room (please approve location before drilling holes in the wall)
  4. Finished assembling my dresser and assembling the lamp
  5. Move all your random toys out of our bedroom window so I can make it cute
  6. Install CrTTV somewhere in the guest room? Too ugly

Jesse is right. This is genius! My husband and I have a lot of small, tedious home projects that need to be done (like cleaning out the garage, hanging lights over guest beds, taking things to Goodwill, etc.)

Letting all these little tasks (which add up to big stress) disappear and disappear from my life would relieve so much stress.

Tatum continued: “I would be happy if all of these things were done. That’s all the things I definitely wouldn’t do. We’ve been so busy. Like, it’s not his fault that he hasn’t done that yet. .Basically not a second to spare. So, it’s going to be tough for him, but I trust him.

TikTok users commented on the video, saying they also don’t like traditional gift-giving when the holidays come around.

“I’m a necessities person lol, stock me up on TP, picks, detergents and non-perishable food,” one user wrote.

Another replied: “Fr 😂😂 toothpaste and cleaning supplies would probably give me a blast.”

We love a sensible Christmas!
