A mum posted an emotional TikTok about her experience after being shamed for letting her 3-year-old daughter have her ears pierced at Claire’s, a store popular for accessories and gadgets in most malls shop.
The mother, Hannah Odend’hal, recently shared a video on TikTok of herself crying in her car after the incident at Claire’s home. She revealed that when she had her ears pierced in a store, her daughter briefly cried from the pain, and another woman thought it was the perfect opportunity to express her terrible point.
“I’ve just been told that I’m a disgusting mother and that they want someone to hold me down and do painful, horrible things to me because I pierced Lennox’s ears,” Odenhaar apparently said said distractedly.
“This woman walked up to me in the middle of everyone in Claire’s family and told me that I was a disgusting excuse for a mother and that she really wanted someone to hold me down and do something painful and horrible to me. , like I just did.
Odenhal was speechless.

In a follow-up video, Odenhaar provided more context about the situation, explaining that the incident happened over Easter and that she had since had time to process and recover from the “mom-shaming.”
Despite having gotten over the uncomfortable situation, she shared the video so that others can understand how words can hurt, especially when they don’t know the person or the full context of the situation.
Odenhaar said she was opposed to having her daughters’ ears pierced when they were babies, preferring to wait until they asked for them. She reiterated that her daughter Lennox had expressed a strong desire to have her ears pierced when she was three years old.
The situation begins when Wuxia encounters a piercing pagoda. Lennox asked for his ears to be pierced, but the pagoda’s age limit was five. Odenhaar left the store “kicking and screaming” with her daughter because she desperately wanted a piercing.
A few weeks later, Odenhaar took her daughters to the mall to see the Easter Bunny. While they were in the food court, Lennox noticed a kid getting his ears pierced at Claire’s house, which reignited her desire to get her ears pierced. In response to a number of comments suggesting this, Odenhaar added that she did try to schedule piercings at more credible locations, such as tattoo parlors, but all three places she called required an age of at least six.
There’s no age limit for Claire’s piercings, so Odenhal decided to get hers pierced, and even more shockingly, she cried.
In a separate incident, she revealed that about six weeks after her piercing, Lennox decided she no longer wanted the earrings and had them removed. Children will still be children after all!
