Preschool Autumn Leaves Sensory Bottle

Need an easy and fun sensory bottle recipe to fit your fall theme? Learning about fall can be fun in a preschool or preschool classroom, but all that fun can quickly become overstimulating for some children.

This is where sensory bottles come in! When shaken, the colorful leaves in this discovery bottle will float gently inside the bottle. Fallen leaves can have a soothing effect on young children, making them the perfect addition to your calming area.

Sensory bottles are great calming tools. When you change your cool down bottle from time to time, it keeps things fresh and increases interest levels.

Introduce students to your fall sensory bottle and place it in your calming area. When students feel anxious, they can visit the Calm Corner, shake the bottle, and watch leaves slowly slide across the plastic bottle.

The first step is to fill the empty bottle halfway with clear liquid glue. This way, you don’t have to worry about exact measurements, how big the bottle is, or getting any measuring tools to stick.

Next, add the leaf foil confetti and gold glitter to the bottle. I used gold glitter but you can use other colors if you wish. I recommend using enough glitter to add sparkle, but not too much or you won’t be able to see the leaves clearly.

Then, pour water into the bottle until it reaches almost Full. Be sure to leave a little extra space at the top so the leaves can move when shaken.

You can make just one bottle or a few Fall Sensory bottles, whichever you prefer. But don’t forget to seal the lids of the sensory bottles so your kids can’t open them! You can use hot glue or tape to seal the lids of your fall sensory bottles.

Once you’ve made your discovery bottle, place it in your calm area or science center for your students to explore.

You can also try using glitter glue in sensory bottles and calming jars. I have some mini erasers in the shape of leaves that are perfect for putting in fall sensory bottles or even sensory bins.
