Singer and actress Selena Gomez opens up about her health journey again in a recent episode vanity fair The profile reveals that if she plans to expand her family, she may face a difficult reality.
“I’ve never said anything like this,” she says in a new cover story. vanity fairOctober issue, “But unfortunately I can’t take care of my own kids. I have a lot of health issues that would put my life and my kids’ lives at risk. It’s something I’m going to have to grieve for a while.
The 32-year-old went on to note that despite her health issues, she still plans to have children and is grateful for the medical alternatives available to her.

Selena added: “I’m excited about what this journey looks like, but it’s going to look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’s going to be mine. This is going to be my baby.
She went on to talk about potential alternative routes to motherhood, including surrogacy and adoption.
“I thought this happened to everyone,” she continued. “[But] I’m in a much better situation. I feel so lucky that there are so many wonderful people out there who are willing to be surrogates or adopt, which are both huge possibilities for me. It makes me so grateful for the other avenues available to those who aspire to be moms. I’m one of those people.
Gomez noted that she is particularly open to adoption because her mother, Mandy Teefey, was adopted.
“I probably wouldn’t be here. I don’t know what her life would be like,” she shared. “She and I are both very grateful for how life has gone.”
Gomez has previously spoken about wanting to adopt.
during an interview time Earlier this year, she noted that she had decided years ago to adopt a child at the age of 35, even though she was still single. That plan changed after she met producer Benny Blanco (her current partner), who has also publicly stated that he hopes to start a family with Gomez in the future.
“That’s my next goal, to check that box. … I love being around kids,” he told Howard Stern earlier this year.
As for tying the knot with Blanco, Gomez didn’t address any engagement rumors in her latest interview, but said she felt zero pressure to take the next step.
“We always make sure to protect what we have, but there are no rules,” she said. “I want him to always be himself. I’ve always wanted to be myself.
She added that even if she did get married, “I would never change my name no matter what. I’m Selena Gomez. That’s it.”
She kept her comments limited about her relationship but offered some insight: “I’ve never been loved like this,” she said of Blanco. “He was just a light. A complete light in my life. He was my best friend. I loved telling him everything.
