Simone Biles was a proud wife watching her husband, Jonathan Owens, score his first touchdown since joining the Chicago Bears.
The 29-year-old safety caught the football on a blocked punt and sprinted into the end zone to score a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, September 8.
Byers, 27, shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) reacting to Owens’ stellar performance in the Bears’ home opener. “I almost had a heart attack,” she wrote in response to NBC’s Sunday Night Football post.
“Jonathan Owens makes a tackle on a blocked punt and scores!” Sports wrote, giving a shout-out to Byers. “How are you feeling, @Simone_Biles? 😏.”
Owens’ touchdown, the team’s first of the season, helped the Bears cut the Titans’ lead from 17-3 to 17-10 in the third quarter. In the end, the Bears defeated Tennessee 24-17.
This style of play is uncommon for the position Owens plays, which makes the pair all the more exciting.
Biles and her husband have supported each other’s athletic careers throughout their relationship.
