Stop talking to moms through their babies

Do you have a strong desire to make your mother angry? like, real Annoy her? Now, I don’t know why you would want to do this, but if there is a way to do this, it is to speak to her through her children.

New moms have enough to deal with, from postpartum health to a lot of unwelcome scrutiny on how to raise your kids. On top of that, new motherhood can bring about a major identity crisis—suddenly, people see you as “mom” and almost nothing else.

So yeah, that really inspired that feeling. He didn’t even bother to talk to her directly, so he talked to her through her children.

Mom and podcaster Cameron Rogers expressed her hatred for this unfortunately not-uncommon practice on Instagram.

“There’s really nothing that can make my blood flow boil Like how I feel when someone talks to me through my kids — specifically, it’s always a little bit condescending,” she said.

Rogers went on to give an example.

“Just as they hold the baby while it cries, [and they say,] “Oh, didn’t mom give you enough to eat?” What the hell? she said.

Yes, there’s nothing a new mom loves more than hearing about everything you think they’re doing wrong. Not even talking to them directly is just icing on top of an already unwanted interaction!

Roger’s sentiment appears to be widely shared by other moms, with more than 25,000 likes and hundreds of comments sharing similar angry experiences.

One user said: “Talk about my sockless feet again 🤬”.

“Omg yes, followed by ‘you have your hands full’ like no shit Susan thank you,” said another.

“I had the cashier at the grocery store ask my two-year-old, ‘Did Mommy forget your coat?'” another user said. “I asked her, ‘If I were the father, would you dare to say this? Why do women do this to each other?’ She was shocked into silence.

Good point – does this happen to dads too? Let us know.

“The dehumanization of motherhood is crazy,” one user agreed.

Thankfully, one user provided a helpful response.

“Talk to them through the baby. ‘Oh baby, is grandma passive aggressive?’ ? ? “It works 60 percent of the time, every time,” she said.

We’ll write it down, thank you.
