Teacher reveals the most shocking things students said

Teaching is definitely a profession that requires an expressionless face and Thick skin. To my amazement, children from kindergarten through high school walk into the school playground and are suddenly struck by some super-powerful wantonness!

Or maybe there’s something in the school’s water fountain? As far as I know, there is a force that prompts students to share with their teachers as soon as inappropriate, personal, or brutally honest thoughts come into their minds.

Teachers must accept anything a student says to their face with no response, a snarky comeback, or even a giggle! I wear my emotions on my sleeve and can’t shut up if I feel insulted, which is a huge prop to teachers around the world who do this day in and day out – with a smile!

That’s why I can’t stop watching eighth-grade teacher Miss Dugan (@miss.dugan1)’s hilarious TikTok video, in which she deadpans as she lists the shocking, horrific things her students have the audacity to say to her and the unbelievable.

Will a child say the scariest things… or not?

Now, I know my daughter and her friends love to ask teachers how old they are and if they are married or have kids. These may not always be popular questions, but they are naive enough. You might even say this is to be expected.

But poor Miss Dugan didn’t get any softballs. Here are some actual things she says her students have said to her:

  • “Are you in therapy?” followed by “This is who you look like.”
  • She was told she looked like “my grandpa’s couch”.
  • Her pants looked like “garbage bags.”
  • The toilet paper at her school is “terrible.” (Why is toilet paper at school her problem? Because students want her to know they have “dookie” on their hands because of it.)
  • When she eats the cookie, a “Fat Butt” alert appears.
  • One student laid it all out, admitting that Ms. Dugan didn’t want to know what was said behind her back or she would “resign.”

Now I don’t know Miss Dugan personally, but I’d hazard a guess that this question might sting the most? “How does it feel to be the only unmarried teacher in this school?”

Miss Dugan really does a great job in this video. While she was clearly outraged and shocked by the audacity of “kids these days,” it was clear she was joking and knew that making such a comment was part of the 180 days of the school year (which neither she or any teacher had counted), correct of?

Parent Reader Involvement

Miss Dugan’s video has proven to resonate with teachers around the world, proving she is not alone. We asked teachers about parents” The Facebook page revealed some of the craziest things students have ever said to them, and some of their reactions were just as shocking.

Questions about personal life

One thing is clear: children (especially those in middle school and high school) are fascinated by the details of their teachers’ personal lives. One teacher revealed that when the students learned of her pregnancy, one of them asked “Did you keep it?” In this case, her return was appropriate (and hilarious). “Well, I kept the other two, so I thought I’d keep this one too,” she replied.

There is also an 11th grade teacher whose students want to know if she will tell them “when her ‘ovum’ becomes pregnant.” What is the reaction when she tells the same child that she is indeed pregnant? “Oh, good, we thought you were just a little fatter.”

Little people keep it real

While middle school and high school students seem to be going for shock value, we can still count on younger kids in kindergarten and first grade to get a “keep it real” laugh.

A teacher has revealed a first-year student told her, “You’re living my nightmare” as she made the class do a paper. I can only imagine how this student will feel about book reports and essays in a few years!

A kindergarten teacher had to come to terms with it when one of her children whispered that her hair smelled like her “grandma’s dog.”

But maybe my favorite one that makes me laugh as I type this is the kindergarten teacher who said to her teacher, “Hey – I’m going to take my socks off so you can see my toe cheese ! Of course I want to put this image out of my mind, but I hope it serves as a reminder to teachers that when all else fails, maybe it’s okay to laugh once in a while.

respect all teachers

I could list a million reasons why I have the utmost respect and admiration for teachers of all grade levels and subjects. I watch them in awe, knowing how much they do for our children and how they advocate for their futures in and out of the classroom. I cannot understand how teachers work tirelessly and are not paid enough and never appreciated enough. I admire the patience, diplomacy and empathy they display every day.

Teachers, you get it, we appreciate everything you do – and we apologize in advance if our kids leave their filters at home!
