It doesn’t look like Topher Grace will be returning to the Foreman family’s basement in the near future.
Grace plays Eric Forman in the movie that 70s showdid his that show from the 90s debuted in the January 2023 premiere, but his character may not return.
In 1996, in the series premiere, Eric sent his daughter Leia (Carly Havilda) to spend the summer with her parents, Red and Katie, at their home in Point Price, Wisconsin. Religion classes are taught there Star Wars. Donna (Laura Preplen) reveals to her and Eric’s daughter that Eric has been offered a life-changing job.
“He’s on his way to Skywalker Ranch, following George Lucas and writing a book about the making of the new Skywalker Ranch Star Wars Movie,” Donna says in Part Three, Episode Seven. “It happened very quickly. He got the call, packed his bags and said goodbye to me at the Wookiee.
As Donna tells Leia, Red (Kurtwood Smith), and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp), she advises her to stay in Chicago, California, where she works, and Eric’s new home Traveling between Point Place and Point Place, she suggested that Leia move there to work full-time for the school year.
It seems unlikely that Grace, 46, will appear again in the new series, given Donna’s plans to travel across the country and visit Eric.
Grace attended the show’s premiere along with original cast members Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, but the trio has yet to return to the Foreman residence. Additionally, Wilmer Valderrama, who reprises his role as Fez in the first season, has yet to return to the show.
Valderrama, 44, told PEOPLE exclusively in June that there wasn’t enough time in his busy schedule to return that show from the 90s. “We release 20 episodes per season [on NCIS]but at the same time, it’s the kids’ job,” he added, referring to that show from the 90s Newcomer.
Meanwhile, Kunis, 41, confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in April that she and Kutcher would not be returning to the show.
“I mean, we did our thing and I think they introduced the son correctly, as our son on the show, which is, you know, [enough],” Kunis said.
Most recently, in early July, after Part Two went off the air, showrunner Gregg Mettler told TVLine they “always want everyone to come back,” but noted that’s not always the case feasible.
“When you get down to the nitty-gritty of it all, that’s the schedule… I will be grateful for the contributions of the legacy cast for the rest of eternity that 70s show In Part 1. Their return was a blessing and they completed the show in a delightful way.
He continued, “Now focus on our roles and get into it. that 70s show People are the secret that works for us.
