Becoming a mother is, without a doubt, the best thing that has ever happened to me. It has molded me into a better, stronger, more loving, and compassionate person. I never knew how loving my heart could be until I had children. Being a mother also makes me tired, a little anxious, and even easier to overthink and overthink. If you’re a mom reading this, I’m sure you can probably relate to some of this.

While we want to do everything we can for our kids and be a good mom, sometimes (or often) we overextend ourselves because we want to show them (and maybe the world) how much we care about them. It comes from the best of intentions, but it can lead us to take on too many responsibilities and commitments. As mothers, we have a heavy burden on our shoulders. That’s why we call it the “mother load”. Of course, while we would do anything for our children, mothers need to remember this. . . all these things are no way Suitable for one person to carry. Our guest, Erica Djossa, finds out what she’s all about when she wrote this book. She spoke with us in depth about this topic and how mothers can make changes for the better.

Erica Djossa is a registered psychotherapist specializing in maternal mental health with over ten years of experience. she is Release the Burden of Motherhood: How to Carry Less and Enjoy Motherhood More, CEO and founder of Momwell and host of the Momwell Podcast. As the mother of three playful little boys, Erica knows firsthand the challenges of motherhood. Perfectionism, stress, and a loss of self-identity exacerbated her struggle with postpartum depression, and she realized how difficult it was to seek care. She founded Momwell to set the standard of care for providers and ensure access to professional, mom-centered mental health support at any stage of pregnancy. Erica has been featured in media publications including Time Magazine, USA Today, Toronto Star, Breakfast TV and Horrible Moms.
