Change is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean people will accept it. When Disney World first announced it would redesign the Magic Kingdom’s outdated Splash Mountain princess and the frog-Inspired by Tiana’s Bayou adventure, you’d think someone would put out a press release saying Mickey Mouse himself would be getting fired. Disney fans have a lot of feelings. But hey, maybe the overreaction stemmed from the shift that caught them off guard. So, maybe now is a good time to talk about all the other attractions and experiences that are leaving Disney World?
After all, sometimes it’s better to face these things head on. Whether you’ve been to Disney 20 times, have must-see attractions you can’t imagine, or have never been to Disney but want to make sure your bucket list rides are still there, having a complete list of what’s coming and going can ensure You won’t be shocked by any major surprises.
Since D23, Disney’s annual fan expo, took place in California in early August, there have been a lot of updates from the purveyors of fun that future Disney World visitors should take note of. Here’s what you need to know.
What’s coming to Disney World
car park
Parents of preschoolers, rejoice! Some of your kids’ favorite characters are coming to the Magic Kingdom soon. if you guessed caryou’re right – the beloved Pixar Animation Studios franchise will be joining Frontierland as a new region in early 2025, with construction starting early next year.
Car fans can look forward to two new automotive-themed attractions that will take you “into the wilderness beyond Radiator Springs.” According to the Disney Parks team, the first attraction will be a drag race where you “race around the wild, climb mountain trails, dodge geysers, and—Matt’s favorite—splash in mud puddles. The second ride will reportedly be “fun for the whole family,” but is more suitable for little ones.
land of the wicked
Finally, fans finally (finally!) get the villain land we’ve been waiting for. “The new land will contain all of your dreams, er, nightmares. The space will be home to two major attractions, dining and shopping on an incredible scale,” teases the Disney Parks Blog.
There’s no word yet on the rides, but Disney will be missing out on a real opportunity if Villains Land doesn’t end up including it emperor’s new slot-Inspired by roller coasters, featuring Yzma’s famous line: “Pull the lever, Kronk!”
Monster Power Company Land
Who among us doesn’t wish we could visit Monster City in real life? Well, it’s happening. This is really happening. The beloved franchise will be front and center on the new Hollywood Studios campus, which will include Disneyland’s first suspended roller coaster.
tropical america land
It’s no secret that DinoLand USA will be making its way to Animal Kingdom, with rides and attractions rumored to be inspired by charm will take its place. Now, it’s confirmed – the site will soon be home to a Neotropical American region called Pueblo Esperanza, which means “Village of Hope.”
Construction on Tropical America Land will begin this fall, with an expected opening in 2027. One of Disney World’s largest fast-food restaurants will be located here in the form of a giant estate. The lush, sprawling grounds will feature a fountain in the center “where villagers love to gather and tell stories,” as well as a giant carousel built by a woodcarver to showcase animals from his favorite Disney stories.
And then there’s the first ever charm– Themed rides that will take visitors inside Madrigal Casita. After receiving the special gift of communicating with animals, Antonio’s room transforms into a rainforest… and it’s time to explore! While we’re not talking about Bruno, who knows what family members you might meet along the way?
A new Indiana Jones experience
Well, technically it’s part of Pueblo Esperanza, but it’s kind of off to the side down the hill. According to the Disney Parks Blog, this new Indy experience at Animal Kingdom “will be unlike any other Indiana Jones experience anywhere in the world.”
Here, the Man in the Hat discovers a well-preserved Mayan temple and hears rumors that a mysterious creature is inside. So when adventurers set out to find answers, you’re in for an adventure.
one Zootopia-Themed attractions
The Tree of Life is always a highlight when visiting Animal Kingdom, so it makes sense that the theater beneath the massive park center would get an exciting update. “Zootopia: Better Zoogether,” a new show hosted in this space will feature your favorite Zootopia characters as they adventure in different biomes seen in the movie. You can see it for yourself next winter.
what happened
Tom Sawyer’s Island and Rivers of America
While there has long been talk of adding more attractions to the Frontier, many fans believe it will be located behind the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. However, to make way for the new Cars Land, Disney World will say goodbye to Tom Sawyer’s Island and Rivers of America.
While some Disney World fans have protested the opportunity on park forums, I personally think it makes sense. My family goes to Magic Kingdom often, but we never see many people exploring the island. It’s a fairly small piece of real estate that isn’t used to its full potential. (Still, it would be unfortunate to see the river disappear.)
If you’re one of the park visitors who’s bummed these attractions are gone, don’t worry – you’ll still be able to visit until at least the end of 2024. “Guests will have plenty of time to experience the charm and nostalgia of the Frontierland before work gets into full swing next year,” a Disney press release assures.
Dinosaur Park USA
Pros: Pueblo Esperanza Coming to Animal Kingdom Means charm Gonna get some late reps in the park. Cons: It means the end of an era, and that era was Dinoland USA. Enthusiasm), but the fact that the cemetery and dinosaur rides are still there is still worth the trek. But with the arrival of the new tropical America, the land of dinosaurs will become completely extinct.
Being a bug is so hard!
I’ll be honest: it makes me a little frustrated. The first time we took our kids there, my son was five and he was afraid of the giant grasshoppers in this 3D show based on Pixar animation The life of a bug. But over time, it has become one of our favorite things to do in AK – especially on hot days when we retreat to the cool underground theater.
But all good things must come to an end, at least to replace this “buggy” show. Zootopia– theme. Fans have been waiting for Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde and friends for a long time, and this swap seems entirely acceptable.
Rumor: Muppet*Vision 3D
This is all hearsay, but the network believes it has figured out where the new content is monsters inc. The land will be located at Hollywood Studios: the current home of Muppet*Vision 3D, which originally opened in 1991. According to The Wrap, sources say Disney almost announced the closure at D23, but postponed it… and now only has a few weeks to decide whether they will continue with the nostalgia show.
Other updates
As you can see, Disney World is going to undergo a huge transformation in the next few years. Is it still worth mentioning?
In addition to the ambitious updates, it will include a redesigned test track (Epcot), two new lounge spaces (Pirates Lounge at Magic Kingdom and Spaceship Lounge at Epcot), and the upcoming Main Street, U.S.A. A new nighttime landscape is available at Magic Kingdom (Magic Kingdom), as well as new missions from the super-hit Millennium Eagle: Smugglers at Galaxy’s Edge (Hollywood Studios).
