This mum points out the leisure gap that exists between men and women

Paige Turner, a mom on TikTok, pointed out yet another glaring injustice between men and women. She is truly the queen of the eye-opening (and frankly frustrating) double standards that often arise in marriage.

In one of her latest videos, Page points to a phenomenon called the “leisure gap,” which is basically a huge difference in how men spend their downtime versus how women spend their downtime.

The idea came to her while attending her child’s birthday party. While chatting, her friend noticed that she was annoyed because her husband was home alone while she spent hours with the children.

“He would spend time watching TV, and while he was doing the same thing, she would be spending time cooking, cleaning, sorting, folding laundry, etc.,” she noted.

“She’s checking off a list of all the things that have to be done. When she doesn’t have the kids, she tries to get them done. Because as parents, we know that everything is easier when you don’t have the kids around.

This is definitely an unfair dynamic. Moms always want to get things done, cross a few things off their never-ending to-do list, and get things going. When men have time to themselves, they usually use it for themselves.

“He felt he had the right to relax and use this time to relax and watch TV,” she reiterated.

Before you come to us and say this is just women complaining about their partners, there’s actual data to support Page’s theory.

“There’s a leisure gap between mothers and fathers. Fathers tend to have an extra three hours of leisure time a week, and they also use that time to watch TV. It could be golf or baseball, who knows what, but they’re watching TV. Women This time is usually spent doing things for the family,” she points out.

“Now, this doesn’t come as a surprise to me because we know that women do a disproportionate amount of the work in terms of doing housework, raising children, and carrying the mental load that it takes to run a household. But because women are doing the work, because They take the time to do this work, so they free up time for their partner to rest and relax.

We are so good!

Page said she wishes women had more rights to rest and relax, but society works against them.

“They are used to doing it all the time. But in order for women to rest and relax, we need more men to participate in the work required to run a household, provide for them and bear the mental burden,” she concluded.

That’s the problem, right? If women spend two hours watching how many episodes Pink heroes come to the rescue, Will they be stuck doing the dishes at 10pm? Will they fall behind on laundry? Because, at this point, men wouldn’t do this if the family dynamic was already established.
