With fall just around the corner, we’ve been counting down all the spooky adventures and excursions we’ve had for the past three seasons, including Halloween Horror Nights 2024 at Universal Orlando Resort. . Seriously…when does Halloween Horror Nights start? And then it ends?
If you follow Universal Pictures, your curiosity is probably peaked by all the clues and trailers that have emerged over the past few months as anticipation for HHN has grown. Now that we know all the haunted houses and scary areas on both coasts, the fun begins as you can really start planning your trip. However, to help you mentally prepare for the delightful horrors to come, you need to know one very important detail: when.
Here’s a full rundown of when Horror Nights starts, ends, and more.
When is Halloween Horror Nights 2024?
First, let’s talk about a very exciting new development: last year’s Horror Nights event started on September 7th, but this year’s festivities start early on August 30th. On March 29, the event has limited capacity and will offer early admission, food, non-alcoholic beverages, free self-parking, shorter wait times and souvenir vouchers.
From August 30 through November 3, you can visit Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights on one (or more) of 48 select nights:

If you’re planning a West Coast HHN trip, you’ll have 40 select dates to choose from, from September 5th to November 3rd:

When does Halloween Horror Nights start and end?
Okay, but what you really want to know is how long is this thing going to last? Now, late night means getting home by 9pm and taking your porch plant home for the night before watching an episode of the show. Law & Order: SVU After you pass out, be prepared: HHN will make you pass out well after bedtime. To be clear, it’s worth it.
If you’re traveling to Hollywood for Halloween Horror Nights, all event dates will start later and end earlier, from 7 PM to 1 AM (Pacific Time). At Universal Orlando, all event dates start at 6:30 p.m. and run until 2 a.m.
Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando closing times may change based on event dates.
What is this year’s haunted house and scare zone theme?
There are four houses at Universal Studios Oland and Universal Studios Hollywood:
- quiet place — “Make some noise, and you won’t last long. When the worlds of the first two films turned scary, terrifying creatures hunted you.
- Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire — “An ancient artifact has unleashed a creepy new entity, Galaka. He will ruthlessly stop you. Only the Ghostbusters can keep you from freezing.
- Insidious: Further — “Go deeper as the devil tries to ensnare you. The red-faced devil will lure you into his lair. KeyFace will unlock your fears. And there’s more.
- Universal Monster: Eternal Bloodline — “Saskia Van Helsing and the Bride of Frankenstein will be embroiled in an epic battle against Dracula’s daughter and her monster expert.”
Universal Orlando’s other six original attractions are Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America, Slaughter Cinema 2, The Museum: Deadly Exhibits, Major Sweets Candy Factory, Goblin’s Feast and Triplets of Terror”. The five horror zones at East Coast Resort are Torture Fields, Swamp of the Dead, Duality of Fear, Demon Queen, and Enter Broomhouse.
Universal Studios Hollywood will also add four new haunted houses, namely “Weekend: Nightmare Trilogy”, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy of Leatherface”, “Monster 2: A Nightmare in Latin America” and ” Death Exposed: Death Valley. In addition to four scare zones – Luchadores Monstruosos, Murder of Crowz, Chainsaw Punkz and Skull Lordz – the California resort will also introduce the popular Terror Tram and bring back the stunt show Purge: Dangerous Waters.
How much does a Universal Halloween Horror Nights ticket cost?
Fares have increased slightly from last year, and if you choose to travel on the East Coast HHN, the increase will be slightly greater than traveling on the West Coast. Tickets for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios in Orlando start at $82.99, compared with last year’s starting price of $79.99; at Universal Studios Hollywood, tickets start at $77, compared with $74 last year.
If you want to attend Universal Orlando’s Premium Scream Night, it will cost you $350.
You’ll also want to get Fast Passes for everyone in your party if you want to do this (highly recommended for regular park goers). These passes allow you to skip waiting lines, shortening queue times and getting you to the haunted house faster—with FastPass reportedly cutting wait times in half during peak hours. They also work on the rides that are open during the event.

Prices vary by night, are only valid once per ride or experience, may change as the date approaches and are likely to sell out.
