There’s a new cast of guest actor royalty in town!
On Sunday, September 8, four actors received 2024 Creative Arts Emmy trophies for their guest roles in their respective comedies and dramas.
From winning their first Emmy to looking back at their seven years selling “yogurt that’ll get you excited,” find out who won these prestigious awards and what they had to say afterward.
Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series: Nestor Carbonell
Carbonell won the first guest actor trophy of the night for his role as Vasco Rodrigues on the FX series. general. Adapted from James Clavell’s best-selling novel of the same name, this historical drama follows two ambitious men from different corners of the world and their unlikely alliance against opponents plotting to overthrow him.

“It’s overwhelming. You work as an actor for a long time and this role is a gift… some years it’s great, some years you just try to piece it together,” he said. “I know our industry is going through a tough time together, so when you’re working, you think about your blessings. But to get something like this, it’s not what I expected, but it’s especially meaningful to me, Because my first TV job was as a guest star Law and order. Today is kind of complete because as soon as I finish presenting or handing out these three awards, I have to jump on a plane – I’m going to jump on a plane to finish directing an episode law and order. Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series: Michaela Cole
Michaela Coel won the Guest Actress Award for her performance in the film Mr and Mrs Smithin which she plays Bev, a spy working for a rival company of John Smith (Donald Glover). The Prime Video series is a remake of the 2005 action comedy of the same name by predecessors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Coel was not present to receive the award on September 8, so Carbonell, who presented the award, accepted the trophy on her behalf.
Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series: Jon Bernthal
Jon Bernthal with ” Bear. The actor stars as Donna Berzato (Jamie Lee Curtis), brother of Carmen (Jeremy Allen White) and Sugar (Abby Elliott), on the FX/Hulu series )’s son, Mickey Belzato.
The 47-year-old actor was nominated for his role in “Fish,” the sixth episode of Season 2, which chronicled the Berzato family’s chaotic holiday party.
He did not attend the Sept. 8 ceremony, but the award marked his first Emmy win.
Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series: Jamie Lee Curtis
Jamie Lee Curtis wowed audiences as Donna Berzatto in the film Bear, She won the award for Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. Her character is the mother of Carmen, Sugar and Mickey. She struggled with alcoholism and borderline personality disorder – something that was very evident in the episode “Fish,” when Donna prepared Christmas Eve dinner.
Curtis, 65, took the stage after the name was announced and told the crowd: “You know there’s a saying, ‘Hurt people, hurt people,’ but I also think you could add, ‘Helping people helps people,’ and I think that’s that’s the story Bear”.
“It’s amazing that I’ve been given this opportunity at this point in my life,” she continued, before calling the show’s cast and crew “an integral part of this beautiful, beautiful, beautiful piece of television.” …I’m honored to be a part of it.” ”.
Curtis later expressed her gratitude in the press room, telling reporters she felt like “the luckiest girl in the world” after winning the prestigious award. She also looked back on her time starring in an Activia yogurt commercial and joked about how far she has come since.
“I’ve been an actress since I was 19. I’m 65,” she said. “I’ve been selling yogurt for seven years. Never in my life did I think I’d be able to do something of this depth, complexity, and intelligence. When asked if he might one day achieve EGOT status, Curtis dismissed the possibility — at least for now.
“Well, I can’t sing at all, and I’ve actually never been on stage. I’ve never been in a play, so I can’t imagine,” she replied. “I don’t stay up that late…I don’t know if any of you noticed what I said, but at my age, there’s so much talk about concerts being so late and why Bruce Springsteen can’t do a damn Matinee?
“So I’m not sure I’m going to do that well in the theater because you’re up so late,” she quipped. “But you know what? I never thought any of this would be possible in my life.”
